Every Friday night while growing up, my two younger brothers and I were allowed to peruse the shelves of the local Blockbuster (RIP) and pick out movies to watch. Since we grew up in a fairly strict Christian household, these films had to be approved by our mom or dad before we were allowed to rent them. Time after time, we settled on the westerns of John Wayne or the genius comical stylings of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. These flicks were cool enough, but then one night, we came across a movie that would transform everything we thought we knew about movies, life, entertainment, and even music. Newsies had found me.
